The left-handed pitcher of the Philadelphia Phillies, Jesús Luzardo, officially became the 23rd Venezuelan in major league history to overcome the barrier of 800 innings thrown.
So far in the 2026 season, Luzardo has seven wins and four losses in 18 starts, achieving an ERA of 3.75, according to Diario Meridiano on its website.
Throughout 103.1 innings of work, the Venezuelan has demonstrated remarkable dominance by retiring 125 batters through the strikeout route, maintaining a WHIP of 1.27. These records, together with his recent selection as All-Star, consolidate one of his most complete and productive campaigns in the majors.
The left-handed player joined the list of Venezuelan pitchers who previously managed to overcome that threshold: Félix Hernández, Freddy García, Johan Santana, Aníbal Sánchez, Carlos Zambrano, Wilson Álvarez, Martín Pérez, Carlos Carrasco, Kelvim Escobar, Jhoulys Chacín, Eduardo Rodríguez, Carlos Silva, Omar Daal, Germán Márquez, Francisco Rodríguez, Pablo López, Luis Leal, Tony Armas, Yusmeiro Petit, Antonio Senzatela, Alex Carrasquel and Ranger Suárez.
