The general coordinator of the Venezuela Our Campaign Command of the 21st Century, Jorge Rodríguez, rejected this Thursday the interest in violence of opposition extremism in the face of the presidential elections on July 28.
“They persist in an intention that is far from the Venezuelan electoral tradition, which is a tradition marked by the peaceful development of pre-electoral events, of electoral events, and that tradition has been tarnished in recent times by the fact that the extremist sectors of the Venezuelan right have constantly sung fraud,” Rodríguez criticized at a press conference of the Campaign Command.
He pointed out that this sector of the extreme right dusts up the file of fraud every time they lose elections and only recognize the results of the elections they win.
“For example, they didn't sing fraud in the parliamentary elections in 2015, because well, they won those elections and in 2018 they didn't participate saying that the conditions were not right for the electoral event, but it turns out that they were the same voting machines, the same National Electoral Council, the same voting system, the same regulations, the same laws, exactly the same as these presidential elections in 2024,” he said.
Rodríguez said that in these elections on July 28 there is a novel element, they sang fraud before because they know they are going to lose and they are preparing the ground for violence.
