After the signing of the agreement that includes the proposals of all political
sectors of the country regarding the electoral calendar, the president of
the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, stressed this Wednesday that in
Venezuela there is a national consensus in rejection of the aggressions promoted
by the United States and the extremist opposition against the country.
“There is a very broad consensus in Venezuela, if we could
summarize in a single sentence: let us live in peace! We all feel the same way
(...) Businessmen tell the United States, 'let us open bank
accounts, don't chase the purchase of inputs',” Rodríguez
said from the Federal Legislative Palace.
In this regard, he said that this consensus indicates that 90%
of Venezuelans “reject this aggressiveness in the form of so-called
sanctions of all kinds (...) of protection and respect for this
Constitution and the laws of the Republic.”
Regarding the international observation in the
presidential elections of this year 2024, the head of Parliament reiterated that
those who meet Venezuela's internal requirements will be invited.
“Invited by the Electoral Power to participate in international
observation, those who comply with what is established in the
laws, in the Barbados agreement, which says
international observers who comply with what is established in the Regulations that
sign the observer body with which it says impartiality will not be
subject to any form of partiality on the part of the actors who are participating in
this case, in the election,” he said.
