During the National Day The People Go to the Barracks, the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, highlighted citizen participation in the process for the defense of Venezuelan territory.

“Deployment and training are part of a historic obligation. It's not a choice or a right, but a duty to protect every square meter of the national territory,” he said.

Rodríguez emphasized that Venezuela does not accept impositions from foreign powers and that the country's history is marked by the Bolivarian struggle.

“We will never accept impositions from any foreign country, we will never accept rude impositions from powers or empires that are used to harming, mistreating or assaulting the peoples of the world, we were wrong with Venezuela; we are a people of peace,” he stressed.

He said that more than eight million Venezuelans have participated in the first phase of recruitment and that the second phase, focused on operational training, is currently under way.

Rodríguez affirmed that the defense of the territory is also the defense of peace and that collective commitment guarantees national sovereignty. “We are going together to defend Venezuela. We will be free and independent,” he concluded.
