Juan Díaz won the gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the Pan American Games in Asunción

Venezuelan Juan Díaz climbed to the top of the podium at the Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, in the 97 kg category of the Greco-Roman sport.

The Venezuelan won the gold medal after defeating Mexico's Dorian Trejo 5-3.

Díaz left Argentinian Ricardo Gómez 5-1 on the way in the quarterfinals; he continued to win the semifinals with a resounding 9-0 against Brazil's Thalyson Aleixo

This is the third gold medal for Venezuela in the competition.
