The magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), Tania D'Amelio, highlighted the importance of the electoral process that takes place this Sunday where Venezuelans will elect more than 15,000 communal judges and justices of the peace, stressing that they will be the authority in the territory in which they are elected.
D'Amelio indicated that as part of the process of shaping this new structure that will allow the deepening of the new State from the Commune, institutions must coordinate with the elected and duly accredited judges of the peace who will be the authority in the territory.
“Starting in the month of January, we began the training process, which will last one month, and then the process of swearing in and accreditation by the Supreme Court so that they are identified and also certified, and all institutions will have a list of these judges and justices of the peace because, as stipulated by the legislation, they become recipients of complaints and, in addition, articulate with the competent bodies and, in this coordination with the institutions, they must know who is the authority in the territory,” he pointed out at the time who recalled that these representatives of the communal justice system will be subject to the social comptroller's office.
“Once it is accredited by the Supreme Court, there is a process of monitoring and controlling its management... We know that there are sanctions for those who do not comply with what is established,” he said.
