Judocas Karen León, Rosalvick Aguilar and Yatnelis Rodríguez won gold in Panama

Venezuelan judoka Karen León in senior, and
cadets Rosalvick Aguilar (-44) and Yatnelis Rodríguez (-63) won
three gold medals in the continental cups of the discipline that were held in Panama.
León showed that he maintains his dominance at +78 kilos, imposed his roar on the padding, beating Bahamian Karra Hanna in the quarterfinals, to whom he applied two waza-ari in just 27 seconds. The next match was also quickly led by ippon over Nicaraguan Izayana Marenco in 25 seconds.
The Guayanese won the gold after beating the Colombian Brigitte Carabalia, whom she defeated through Wazari and Yuko, according to a press release from the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports.
Aguilar won his first
quarterfinal victory in pool B via ippon against local Daryeliz Amaya 42 seconds into the fight.
This allowed him to advance to the semifinals, where he led
by accumulating warnings from fellow Panamanian Danna De León.
In the gold medal match, Aguilar defeated Colombian Stephany
Aldana through the ippon. The bronze
was shared by Panamanian Danna De León and Maija Masih.
For his part, Rodríguez managed in the first
instance to beat Panamanian Joselina Matos, in the quarterfinals and then
over Gabriela Masih, by golden score, in the semifinals. For the gold one,
she faced Colombia's Cantoni Cortés, who she beat with a yuko in the definition of the tie.
The criollos Nelson Martínez (-55), Luis Pariche (-81) added silver, while the bronze ones were won by: Juan Daboin (-66), Jorge Natera (-81), Anriquelis Barrios (-63), Luis Amezquita (+100), Gabriela Miranda (-48), Audreys Pacheco (-57), Eliana Aguiar (-70) and Zunilda Chavez (-78).
The Venezuelan senior team with this
participation added points to the qualifying ranking of the Santo Domingo 2026
Central American and Caribbean Games, where to obtain the coupon they
must rank among the top 8 of their weight. The qualifying period
for this event closes on April 21.
