At the Municipal Theater of Caracas, a strategic meeting was held between the Program for Peace and Democratic Coexistence and the judges of the peace of the capital city.
The day marks a significant step forward in building a culture of peace from the grassroots.
During the meeting, the justices of the peace from the 22 parishes of the Libertador municipality presented, before the commission, their experiences, requests and reflections on this first year of mediation, conciliation and conflict resolution functions in the territory, since their election and subsequent accreditation in December 2024.
Regarding the day, the coordinator of the Program for Peace and Coexistence, Ernesto Villegas, stressed that this experience is fundamental for strengthening participatory democracy.
In addition, he specified that the justices of the peace have taken concrete steps to promote the reunion from the communities. “This is an experience that we must take into account for the new political moment that Venezuela is experiencing,” he said.
For his part, the national spokesperson for the justices of the peace, Gustavo Canchica, explained that Venezuela currently has a force of 29,000 mediators deployed throughout the national territory.
“These men and women act as facilitators of peaceful solutions to local conflicts,” he said.
Canchica stressed that the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, has urged plurality, dialogue and reunion between all sectors of Venezuelan society as a way to overcome differences and consolidate national stability.
