Lara's cardinals stay on top: LVBP results from Sunday

The
Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) continued this Sunday with the
teams' fight for first place in the standings.
In the first
match of the day, Cardenales de Lara defeated the Águilas del
Zulia 5-1, sweeping the weekend miniseries at the Don
Antonio Herrera Gutierrez stadium in Barquisimeto, to improve their record to 27-18 and consolidate their lead at the top of the standings.
In another game, Navegantes
del Magallanes swept Caribes de Anzoátegui by a 12-8 slate at Alfonso Chico Carrasquel in Puerto La Cruz.
The match began with home runs by
Diego Rincones in the second inning and Alberth Martínez's historic 57 in the second.
For their part, the
Tiburones de La Guaira defeated the Tigres de Aragua 6-2 at the José Pérez Colmenares Stadium in Maracay.
The weekend miniseries ended up with one
win for each team. The sharks set their record at .500 (24
wins and 24 losses) and are in fifth position alone after
taking a game ahead of the Caracas Lions, against whom
they will face next Wednesday at the Estadio Monumental de La Rinconada.
Finally, Bravos
de Margarita beat the Caracas Lions 7-3 in the second game of the series at Monumental.
