Luis Matos won the Best Player of the Week award at the LVBP

The right-handed slugger of Tiburones de La Guaira, Luis Matos, won the Best Player of the Week award in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP).
During the ninth week of the 2024-2025 LVBP season, Matos shot eight extra bases, of which four were doubles, reached 28 bases, scored nine runs and drove eight, to leave a batting average of .429 in 28 rounds and a sluggin percentage of .1000 and an OPS of 1,484.
The squad garnered 44% of the votes of the accredited press to cover the incidents of the campaign, surpassing Navegantes del Magallanes launcher, Junior Guerra, who won 39% of the votes, according to the LVBP press.
Guerra won both of his starts over the period and left a brilliant 0.75 ERA in 12.0 innings, with a ratio of seven strikeouts for four walks. In addition, he will start the tenth week of the competition as the leader in lauros, average clean runs (1.75) and innings pitched (60.0), second in fans (42) and third in WHIP ( 1.20).
Also considered for the election were: Diego Castillo (Magallanes), Eugenio Suárez (Lions of Caracas), Jorge Tavarez (Águilas del Zulia) and Carlos Narvaez (Cardinals of Lara).
