Macuto Maternal Hospital and Caraballeda camp guarantee medical care

Health personnel and civilian volunteers guarantee medical care to the affected population of La Guaira at the Macuto Maternal and Child Hospital and in the multidisciplinary camp located on the Caraballeda golf courses, the Venezuelan News Agency reported, citing a press release from the health ministry.

22 days after the double earthquakes, Macuto Hospital is active, operating under a strict contingency protocol, despite serious structural damage to the hospitalization, operating rooms and maternity areas, as well as the significant loss of staff members.

Since June 24, the hospital adapted the reception area as a temporary triage and stabilization room, with beds on the floor and portable equipment. To date, the team has treated more than 250 patients, who were later referred to Social Security or the Pariata health center.

In addition, a humanitarian camp has been established on the golf courses of Caraballeda to serve hundreds of affected families. This space brings together various institutions, international delegations, Venezuelan states and volunteers.

This multidisciplinary deployment is nourished by the efforts of professionals from all over the country who have moved to La Guaira since “day zero”, explains the Health portfolio.
