Mayor Meléndez oversees care at the Ciudadela de Catia Transitional Camp

The mayor of the Bolivarian Libertador Municipality, Carmen Meléndez, carried out this Thursday an inspection tour of the Ciudadela de Catia Transitional Camp, located in the Sucre parish, where she saw first-hand the comprehensive care provided to families affected by the earthquakes recorded last June 24.

During his visit, he highlighted the work of the team deployed in this space, conceived as a temporary refuge that guarantees protection, stability and dignity to the affected population, in strict compliance with the instructions of the Bolivarian Government.

“The Ciudadela de Catia Transitional Camp is a space where we are protecting families who were affected by the earthquakes of June 24. As ordered by our president Delcy Rodríguez, here we offer health care, emotional support, security, food, barbershop and hairdressing services, spaces for rest and entertainment, and what is necessary for good living,” said Mayor Meléndez.

He also highlighted the human approach and the vocation of service of the staff who live in the camp, stressing that protection measures extend to all members of the family unit, including companion animals. “A dedicated staff works in these areas, who protect each family, including their pets, with veterinary care and protection,” he emphasized.

The mayor reported that the care device is not limited to the Citadel of Catia, but is part of a network of spaces enabled in Caracas to provide timely responses to communities. “As well as this temporary camp, we have the Guayana Esequiba and El Ávila Cultural and Sports Center in operation, in San Bernardino, as well as two more in El Junquito, one in San Agustín, among others,” he said.
