The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, reported that the Mayor's Office brigades are still continuing this Sunday, the 23rd, with the cleaning of the Los Cangilones de La Vega desander, which was saturated by heavy rainfall this weekend, due to the impact of Tropical Wave No. 40.

On his Instagram account, he noted that “our brigades are carrying out this Sunday #23Ago the removal of solid and vegetable waste from the Los Cangilones de La Vega desander, which became saturated as a result of the heavy rainfall this weekend.”

“We oversee these works, which are carried out with the heavy machinery necessary to extract the sediments that hinder the regular operation of the system, which was carried out preventive maintenance this week,” he explained.

Meléndez explained that the desander is a hydraulic structure designed to separate and remove sand, fine gravel and other heavy solids from water, and its function in this space is to protect pipes, pumps and irrigation systems against obstruction and wear.

“With these jobs, our brigades offer peace of mind and security to neighbors in the area. We continue,” he emphasized.
