This Friday, August 29, the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, specified that this second day of enlistment for the militia represents “a party for the defense of the Fatherland”.

He stressed that today there is a call for unity, as Venezuelans join without political distinction to reaffirm their commitment to the defense of sovereignty in the face of foreign threats.

In this regard, he stated that “we did not enlist for the tricolor of Venezuela, a single flag for all”, while stating that the day of enlistment continues in the national territory; in this sense, he explained that there are 40 registration points in the Venezuelan capital.

“The co-responsibility that all of us who set foot on Venezuelan land to defend them is constitutional, and that is why we will be in the streets,” he said. He thanked the workers of the National Electoral Council (CNE) because more than 1 thousand of them are making an appearance, as well as public and private companies in the capital.
