The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, reported that on Friday she held a working meeting with the Central Commission responsible for coordinating events related to the upcoming canonization of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández and Mother Carmen Rendiles.

During the meeting, the logistical preparations, the planned activities and the spaces designated for the religious events to be held in the capital were reviewed.

“We are preparing to celebrate the canonization of Doctor José Gregorio Hernández and Mother Carmen Rendiles,” he said.

Meléndez indicated that Caracas will be a place of prayer, faith and peace next October, as part of the celebrations for the canonization of two figures linked to the country's spiritual and social history. José Gregorio Hernández, a Venezuelan doctor renowned for his service to the community, and Carmen Rendiles, founder of the Congregation of the Servants of Jesus, represent examples of vocation and dedication.
