This Monday, the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) enacted the judicial reform presented in February, which will take effect before his term ends, on October 1.

“Today, on this historic day, I signed the decree for the publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation of the constitutional reform to the Judiciary, approved in Congress and in most local legislatures. President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo accompanied me as a witness. It's an honor to be with Claudia today,” the Head of State wrote in X.

The Chamber of Deputies approved the reform on September 4 and immediately sent it to be debated in the Senate, which ratified it seven days later in a scandalous day of debates.

The reform was approved in less than 24 hours by 17 of the 32 congresses of the federal entities it needed. In all of them, the Morena party governs and has a legislative majority.
