The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, welcomed the ongoing negotiations for a possible pact between Washington and Tehran, stressing that this understanding could be the determining factor in stabilizing oil prices on a global scale.

The president stressed that, if implemented, the agreement would contribute significantly to normalizing the price of crude oil, a vital element for the predictability of international energy markets.

For the Mexican Government, this scenario represents a strategic opportunity. Sheinbaum noted that price stabilization will be highly beneficial to the country, allowing for a progressive restoration of federal revenues derived from oil exports and, at the same time, facilitating a necessary reduction in the burden of fuel subsidies, balancing the costs of refining and domestic marketing.

The analysis presented by the federal administration highlights that the technical component of the agreement, specifically the guarantee of openness and free transit in the Strait of Hormuz, is essential to facilitate the constant flow of hydrocarbons to markets in Asia and Europe.

This relief in global supply logistics translates into greater efficiency of the energy value chain, reducing speculative volatility that has affected prices in recent months.

At the end of her speech, the president emphasized the humanistic and diplomatic dimension of her position in the face of the conflict. Sheinbaum reiterated that his administration prioritizes dialogue as a tool for resolving disputes, emphatically stating that “whenever peace is built in the world, we celebrate it”, referring to the importance of mitigating tensions in the Middle East for global economic well-being.
