The Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC), through the Territorial Ecosocialism Unit (UTEC) in Anzoátegui, carried out the preventive closure of a plastic bag factory located in Cantaura, Freites municipality, after detecting multiple environmental crimes.
According to a publication published by the State channel, Venezolana de Televisión, the closure occurred during a technical inspection of the commercial establishment, in which they discovered that the place operated as a front for the packaging of illegal charcoal.
“The MINEC technical committee reported a series of irregularities that directly threaten public health and the ecosystem of the region, which they describe as forest smuggling when 440 bags of charcoal (equivalent to 11 tons) were found, terrible health conditions,” VTV REPORTED.
In addition, there was an inadequate management of effluents and hazardous wastes derived from industrial activity, pig and poultry farming operating inside the plant, in unsuitable areas, lacking delimitation and without the corresponding sanitary permits.
