The
sectoral vice-president for Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, reported
this Friday that more than 9,000
Venezuelan migrants have returned to the country this year through the Great Mission Back to the Fatherland, an initiative promoted
by President Nicolás Maduro to rescue compatriots abroad.
From Simón Bolívar de Maiquetía
International Airport, in La Guaira, where flight number 51 arrived this
day, Cabello explained that “9,276 people have returned
in this new phase of the Plan Back to the Fatherland”.
He recalled that
last Friday the 252 Venezuelans who were being
held hostage in a maximum-security prison in El Salvador were rescued. “They're at
home. Those who arrived in the last one, which was yesterday's from Mexico, are already
starting to go home today, after being medically checked, reviewed, we do the file; because it's not that they arrive here and the
problem is over, no, that's where the admission comes into play,” he stressed.
In this regard,
the Minister of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and
Peace stressed that “the task being carried out by the companions of the Mission is
permanent contact, it is permanent monitoring, it is being aware of
them (the returnees) and that this family is truly reunited, in the
human, but also in the spiritual”.
