The sectoral vice-president for Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, stressed that so far in 2026, a total of 3,630 people have been released from the ordinary justice system for serving their sentences under the parameters of redemption, procedural delay or to be tried in freedom.

This was stated in the presentation of the balance sheet of the Amnesty Commission together with the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez, where she stressed that this figure is higher than that recorded in 2025 where 2,244 people benefited.

“Our constitution has a full title that speaks of Human Rights and their guarantees and based on that title we can fine-tune our proposal in the judiciary,” he said.

He pointed out that it could now be tried that “the person does not need to be detained”, specifying that “he can now be tried in freedom”, but everything will depend on the case.

In this regard, he argued that Justices of the Peace play a fundamental role because they can help resolve a number of cases that arise in communities.

He also reported that “we continue to review the cases, and today we can say that the figure of the pranes that prevented someone from going to court causing procedural delay no longer exists, and we have advanced with the issue of thematic hearings in cases where people cannot be transferred.
