After a series of citizen complaints about excessive charges, the authorities of the Ministry of People's Power for Transport and the National Assembly (AN) met with the objective of establishing measures to regulate parking service fees in the national territory.

On the subject, the Minister of Transport, Jacqueline Faria, on her account on the social network Instagram, reported on the meeting with the deputy Pedro Carreñ, president of the Permanent Committee on Administration and Public Services of the AN.

During the meeting, the urgent need to intervene in the sector was addressed, which, although it is a municipal competence, is affecting users.

He noted that disproportionate complaints have been received about the amount being charged at airports, shopping malls and other parking places. To take action, a comprehensive work team will be formed and will begin its functions immediately after Easter.

This block will be composed of the Public, Transport and Industry and Commerce Ministries, in addition to the Decentralized Service for Standardization, Quality, Metrology and Technical Regulations and the National Superintendency for the Defense of Socioeconomic Rights, and also the private sector will participate in parking cameras in shopping centers, hotels, restaurants, among others.

Although the parking service is controlled by municipalities, the strategy seeks to coordinate efforts so that, through municipal ordinances, clear limits are set on rates.

Faria emphasized that these actions have the support of the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, and seek to curb speculation.

It is expected that in the coming weeks the first technical guidelines for the standardization of charging for this service will be announced.
