Minister Julio León Heredia inaugurated the Corn Fair in Lara

With the objective of consolidating the state of Lara as the economic epicenter of the west of the country, the Minister of Productive Agriculture and Lands, Julio León Heredia inaugurated the Expo National Maize Congress 2026, which will take place from March 26 to 28 in the city of Barquisimeto.
The opening of the event was attended by the Minister of Productive Agriculture and Lands, the governor of Lara, Luis Reyes Reyes; the regional president of Portuguesa, Primitivo Cedeño; and the mayor of Iribarren, Yanys Agüero. Together with representatives of the agro-industrial sector, the authorities toured spaces aimed at strengthening innovation, profitability and strategic alliances in the area.
During his speech, Minister León highlighted the relevance of this third edition: “This congress, which is being consolidated in Lara, aims to promote agricultural production, assuming the training process as a transcendental axis”. In turn, the national authority highlighted the export potential of items such as carrots, sugar, corn (white and yellow) and coffee, which are positioned as foreign exchange generators for the nation.
In this regard, the holder of the agricultural portfolio emphasized that Lara is ratified as a strategic commercial axis, whose productive diversity directly contributes to economic development and food sovereignty in Venezuela.
