Minister Villegas highlighted the people's organizational strength in San Fernando de Apure

The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, highlighted the organizational strength of the Town of San Fernando de Apure, after holding a political-cultural day with community spokespersons from the communes “Nicolás Maduro Moros” and “Lanceros por la Patria”.

During the activity, also accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Development and Cultural Economy, Raúl Cazal, and regional authorities, local organizations presented advances and projects in the areas of health, sports and culture.

Villegas took advantage of the space to highlight the participatory and leading democracy exercised in the country. “It is a point of reference for humanity because, in the midst of the decline of conventional political models, here in Venezuela they are making a new management model that must be studied. The love with which they express themselves with respect to each consolidated initiative is truly admirable; they are lessons of love for the country,” he said.

In addition, he highlighted the model of community participation in the country, noting that it constitutes a reference to “the decline of conventional political models”, and highlighted the commitment of communities to local cultural initiatives.

The day coincided with the recent inscription of the Venezuelan joropo on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In this context, the authorities took a tour of the entity's cultural spaces, accompanied by presentations of the traditional genre.

Villegas highlighted the joropo as a national identity symbol and recalled that the file submitted to UNESCO was prepared by presidential instruction. He also invited the Colombian people to join the celebration, noting that it is a shared heritage.

“Feel that this is also a reason for joy for you because nothing can divide us if we are children of Bolivar. May the joropo serve to unite us, to find us,” he stressed, announcing that a mega-hump is planned to be held in the llanera entity.
