The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, announced that the digital guide with more than one hundred national film productions, previously restricted to Uruguay, is now available in that country.
The statement was released through its digital platforms, where Villegas emphasized that the siege against Venezuela is not limited to the economic or military sphere, but also extends to the cultural sphere. In this context, he denounced the fact that unilateral coercive measures have a direct impact on the country's audiovisual heritage.
The minister noted that the collection of feature films has been made available to the global public through online streaming services, as part of a strategy to disseminate national cinema. However, Uruguayan users have reported not being able to access the content, showing the message “Blocked country”.
Villegas emphasized that this situation represents an attack on Venezuelan identity, preventing free access to works that are part of the cinematographic heritage. He added that, just as there are international treaties for the protection of cultural heritage in times of war, a legal framework must be established to protect it against other conflicts.
The re-establishment of access from Uruguay was confirmed by Internet users, who reported that the restriction had been lifted and that the guide was already available in that territory.
