Ministry of Ecosocialism seizes more than 216 kilos of chigüire and slime meat in four states

A shipment of 216.91 kilos of slime and chigüire meat -salty and fresh- were seized in four states of the country, as part of the first phase of the oversight operation carried out by the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC), ahead of Holy Week.

Of the total confiscated, the entity accounted for 153.23 kilos of chigüire meat and 63.68 kilos of slime meat. The finding was made based on inspection processes carried out in the states of Cojedes, Barinas, Apure and Delta Amacuro, according to the local press.

During the inspection, there was also the seizure of living wildlife species, whose possession, commercialization and smuggling is prohibited by Venezuelan laws. In total, authorities recovered 155 specimens: 134 birds, 19 mammals and two reptiles.
