The State Directorate of Health (DES), through the Directorate of Indigenous, Intercultural Health and Complementary Therapies, carried out a day of care and logistical deployment in the Parima B and Chalbaud communities, located in the Alto Orinoco Municipality of the state of Amazonas.

During the deployment, the health team carried out actions that guarantee the permanence of the health service in border areas, for the benefit of the indigenous people in more than 81 shabonos (traditional collective housing of the Yanomami people), as well as in other areas that are difficult to access geographically, said a press release from the Ministry of People's Power for Health.

In the comprehensive approach, more than 21,000 units of drugs such as antimalarials, supplies from the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI) and vaccines were distributed to strengthen respiratory health programs, onchocerciasis (a parasitic disease affecting vision and skin), and the Maternal Route.

The team also carried out the emergency airmedical transfer of six patients and their companions to more complex centers for timely and effective care.
