Miranda Government and Guarenas City Hall clean up the El Tamarindo and Quebrada Seca ravines

As part of the Miranda Risk Mitigation Plan, in Guarenas, work will begin to clean the El Tamarindo and Quebrada Seca ravine.

During the inspection by the governor of the state of Miranda, Elio Serrano, and the mayor of Guarenas, Antonio Galíndez, the deployment of cleaning and channeling work on the Trapichito ravine, aimed at protecting Mirandina families, was verified.

The actions are part of the 2026 Rain Plan, designed under the guidance of the President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, reported by Prensa Gobernación de Miranda.

At the regional level, the prevention plan systematically addresses an estimated 800 prioritized points distributed in the 21 municipalities of the Mirandina entity.

“We are working to prevent floods, we are aware of Miranda's safety,” said Serrano, stressing that the primary objective of management is to anticipate any contingency before the rainy season.

The intervention in the Trapichito ravine involves a stretch of more than 6 kilometers from the El Piñal, Gueime and Ruiz Pineda sector. The work carried out jointly between the Mayor's Office of Plaza and the Miranda Services Corporation record the removal of sediments, with the extraction of 4,500 cubic meters of material in a stretch of 300.

More than 60 men and women from service crews participate, using jumbo equipment and a backhoe, managing to remove more than 200 trucks loaded with sediment. In addition, more than four internal pipes that converge in the sector are thoroughly cleaned.

The works directly benefit more than 4,000 families in the “Trincheras de la Revolución” commune, which brings together 17 community councils in the sector.

Mayor Antonio Galíndez emphasized that coordination with the self-government rooms has been the key to the successful deployment. “This is a request from the residents of the entire Trapichito sector, that through communal councils, communes and self-government rooms, it has been possible to clean and dredge the ravine,” he said.

Galíndez also recalled that the comprehensive plan has won important victories in the jurisdiction with the dredging of the Guarenas River on the Petare-Guarenas National Highway and at the height of the Villa Panamericana sector, vulnerable areas that were affected in previous rainy periods.
