The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, from the Antonio José de Sucre International Youth Leadership School, located in Mariche, Miranda state, assured that the Venezuelan opposition could not govern with the Constitution of 1999.

In that regard, he recalled that the first thing Commander Hugo Chávez did “was to call a National Constituent Assembly and a National Constituent Assembly was constituted and that Constitution was made that has hurt them so much, historically a pain that burdens the counterrevolution or the extremist sectors; because they cannot govern with this Constitution, they could not govern this this country with this Constitution.”

He also specified that one of the first actions of the right wing, if it were in power, would be to “repeal this Constitution (...) that's why on April 11 they rescinded the Constitution of 99, so when the Assembly of 2015 was installed they generated a statute of the Constitution”.
