Venezuela is in the process of submitting the hallaca to UNESCO to be recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, so a second revision of the ethnographic file, a key document for this process, was carried out, and the state of Miranda participated with the contribution of knowledge and testimonies.
It should be noted that this document collects testimonies from all over the country and highlights regional variants, ingredients, the transmission of knowledge between generations and the meaning of hallaca in Christmas celebrations.
This was reported by the Secretary of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Miranda, Mariam Martínez, who points out that the testimonies of five knowledge-bearers from the five territorial axes of Miranda were systematized, who were later sent to the Center for Cultural Diversity.
He also indicated that a third revision of the file is expected in October and a video will be included. The complete dossier will be sent to UNESCO in Paris in November.
Currently, Venezuela has nine intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO, of which five belong to the state of Miranda: the Dancing Devils of Yare, Palmeras de Chacao, the Parranda de San Pedro, the Holy Innocents of Caucagua and San Juan Bautista.
