The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, led the swearing in of the Popular Units for Peace (UPPAZ) in the state of Monagas, where he asserted that “what terrifies Patria sells them the most and puts them to run is when they see the people organized.”

Cabello said that she “celebrates the activity and greets its organizers and the brave people of peace soldiers”. He explained that “we started with Monagas the swearing in of its 1,416 communities.”

“I'm going to say something to those who are violently hiding their failure, to those who have never believed in the electoral route and today they are desperate claiming to be the defenders of the electoral route, I'm going to tell you - and I hope we don't have to prove it - if you cross the line and try to destabilize, conspire again as they did in the guarimbas we will look for you, we will find you and we will not allow the country to lose one of the things it loves most: peace”.

He added that “our Commander Chávez said that even for peace, armies were needed and he assimilated at the time the figure of the PSUV as the guarantor of peace because of its organization and structure. He gave this order to organize units that guarantee peace, knowing that peace is the heritage of all Venezuelans because it belongs to each one of us (...) We must take care of her like a child.”.

He pointed out that there is a small group that is betting on war. “Today they are out there asking for an election date and surely when the CNE says so they will say that they don't like it. They really are afraid and they are afraid of this people.”
