Monte Ávila Editores wins XII National Book Award

As part of the 15th Caracas
Book Fair, Monte Ávila Editores received the XII
National Book Award in the categories: Best cover design for the
novel The Fish of Dreams, by Wilfredo Machado; and for the
promotion of books and reading for the best website in 2021-2022.
According to information from the Ministry
for Culture, the jury singled out Machado's novel for its sober and
artistic cover photograph, whose selection was successful in accordance with
the title and content of the work.
The editorial coordinator, Gladys
Ortega, received the award from the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas;
the vice-minister and president of the National Book
Center, Raúl Cazal, as well as the mayor of the Bolivarian Libertador municipality of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, among other authorities.
During the award ceremony, the promotion and media
coordinator, Enyer Brión, stressed that the
prize for the Promotion of Books and Reading is due to investment in the digital
field, the commitment to guarantee free access to books as a
cultural asset, and to the constant task of projecting the works and authors of the publishing
catalog to the top.
“This award for the best website is the first one
won by the publisher in the 2.0 field, our site has just reached one
million downloads at this Caracas Book Fair, it's no small thing. In the
sector, there is an overwhelming majority who prefer physical books,” he explained.
He also stressed that “from 2020 to the
present day, the
editorial offer has been offered free of charge on monteavilaeditores.com, and it can even be read online without downloading, if you add to
that the promotion on social networks, where almost 95% of
downloads are generated, all of which make today the publisher's page the favorite
of book and reading lovers”.
