More than 200 professionals were trained to evaluate buildings affected after the earthquakes

A total of 220 professionals received training and technical training, at the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC), for the inspection and classification of structural and non-structural damage to buildings affected by the seismic events that occurred on June 24.

The multidisciplinary team, made up of engineers, architects, geologists and specialists in the area, will be part of the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Habitability of Housing and Infrastructure, created by the President in Charge, Delcy Rodríguez.

According to a press release, the training aimed at different delegations from all over the country was conducted by the technical director of the Institute of Engineering Foundation for Research and Technological Development (FIIIDT), Víctor Cano.

“These professionals from different municipalities and governorates at the national level come to support building registration areas and to carry out rapid evaluations with the application of the evaluation methodology known as the traffic light technique, which allows recording the structural conditions of infrastructures through a green, yellow and red labeling system,” he explained.

He also commented that the different inspections and classifications of damage in the affected states after the two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 are to provide peace and tranquility to the population.
