More than 200 volunteers were deployed in Cata Bay for a comprehensive environmental sanitation day

On World Beach Day, more than 200 volunteers were deployed in Cata Bay to carry out a comprehensive day of environmental sanitation, with the objective of promoting the conservation of the marine ecosystem and raising community awareness.

The mayor of the Ocumare municipality of the Gold Coast, Wilmer Leal, emphasized that coastal conservation must be a permanent commitment that transcends a commemorative date. “Beach Day is every day,” he said.

Thus, he called for reflection on the impact of organic and inorganic waste generated by daily activities such as pruning and remodeling.

Leal stressed that, although public service crews are constantly deployed, the collaboration of residents and visitors is essential to consolidate the jurisdiction as one of the cleanest in the state of Aragua.

For his part, the deputy to the National Assembly, Wilmer Velásquez, highlighted the massive participation and organization of the event at the regional level. “We added an effort to raise the awareness of all the people who came, to the protection of the turtles that are in the area; that our users of the Henri Pittier National Park join in the conservation of the territory,” said Velásquez.

In addition, the regional director of the Ministry for Ecosocialism, Yuliana Ramos, highlighted the positive impact of government policies implemented at all three levels of management. “These spaces are important for education and calling on people to be part of the initiative,” Ramos said.

During the day, information and awareness-raising points were installed dedicated to biological diversity, afforestation, animal protection, sustainable tourism and prevention against the “El Niño” phenomenon, preventive strategies that have made it possible to progressively reduce the volume of waste collected in the area during each season.
