A total of 2,360 candidates for justices of the peace registered with the National Electoral Commission in the state of Aragua.
The information was released by the first vice-president of the National Assembly, Pedro Infante, during an event held in the Santiago Mariño municipality.
“The Santiago Mariño municipality has 343 people aspiring to the position of justices of the peace,” Infante said.
The meeting was attended by the governor of the entity Karina Carpio; the national liaison of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) in the state, Ricardo Molina; the state organizer, José Gregorio Colmenares; as well as the mayor of the territory, Joana Sánchez.
“We are working on the transformation of the State. Whoever wants to know about democracy should come to Venezuela,” said Infante, local media reports.
For his part, Colmenares said that the responsibility of judges and justices of the peace is aimed at mediating conflicts in their communal circuits. “Each of them will receive training in different subjects related to the legislation of these matters,” he said.
“They are men and women who accepted the call of the revolution and are working for the consolidation of the commune. In the coming days, house-to-house visits and meetings in communal circuits will be strengthened to introduce candidates to this electoral process on December 15,” he added.
