More than 260 handmade toys were made in Yaracuy for children in La Guaira

As part of the “Light and Play for La Guaira” conference, more than 260 handmade toys were made in the state of Yaracuy, with the purpose of bringing joy to the girls and boys of the central coast, one of the areas most affected by the double earthquake that occurred last June 24 in Venezuela.

This initiative, organized by the State Office of Culture, the Red Art Store, the Government of Yaracuy, the Institute of Culture of that entity (ICEY) and the National Association of Toy Manufacturers, was held at the “Carmelo Fernández” museum in San Felipe, between July 8 and 10, where more than 70 volunteers worked to manufacture St. John's horses, puppets, rag dolls, wooden carts, puzzles, memory games, books and gurrufios.

In this regard, the single cultural authority for the state, Josué Rivas, reported that, in addition to the production of handmade pieces, more than 250 toys were donated, the result of the deep solidarity of the people who joined the call.

Rivas also thanked the support of all the institutions and each of the volunteers who made the activity possible. “Joining efforts can promote solidarity through artisanal toys and provide a gesture of hope to affected families,” he added.

It is important to note that the reception of donations will continue from July 14 to 20 at the Southern Bookstore Store, located at the headquarters of the “Carmelo Fernández” museum, with the purpose of increasing the final contribution that will be given to people affected by the emergency.
