More than 3 tons of cocaine seized in joint Venezuela-France operation

The National Anti-Drug Superintendent indicated that, to date, 15,000 kilos of different narcotic substances have been seized.

From the state of Nueva Esparta, the National Anti-Drug Superintendent (SUNAD), M/G Richard López Vargas, reported the results of a joint operation between Venezuela and France in which 3,134,500 kilograms of cocaine were seized and six Venezuelan citizens were arrested on the border with Granada.

The operation was carried out in the Caribbean Sea, on the border between Venezuela and Granada, with the support of the International Anti-Drug Cooperation Agreement that carries Venezuelan territory with France.

M/G Richard López Vargas explained that the members of the National Anti-Drug Command of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and the representatives of the Third Prosecutor's Office. National drug dealer of the Public Prosecutor's Office, they traveled on the “Guaiquerí” PO-11 Ocean Patrol Vessel to the border with Granada, for the transfer of 100 packages of cocaine (weighing 3,134,500 kilograms) to the Port of El Morro de Valdez, Nueva Esparta state.

Anti-drug balance

With this procedure, the National Anti-Drug Superintendent indicated that, to date, 15,280,956 kilograms of different drugs have been seized so far in 2024, an increase of 457.75% compared to 2023.

In addition, 1,539 procedures have been carried out with 1,937 detainees in the various operations against micro and illegal drug trafficking carried out by citizen security bodies and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces.
