A total of 44 Yaracuyan producers aged between 17 and 85 participated in a specialized workshop on the establishment of cacao nurseries and the strategic management of substrates, given by the staff of the Foundation for the Development of Science and Technology (Fundacite) in the region.
The activity, carried out in the facilities of the Agroecology Hall of the Ministry of Popular Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands (MPPAPT), combined science and ancient tradition with the purpose of optimizing planting processes from their origin and ensuring the development of healthy plants that raise the quality of the sector in the entity.
According to a press release, during the day, attendees acquired technical skills, such as the selection and preparation of seeds, the correct filling of bags for seedlings, and the analysis of essential physiological factors such as phototropism and nutrient absorption.
The practical methodology of the meeting allowed participants to prepare the ideal base mix using sand, black soil and compost; in addition, a technical debate was generated on the porosity, aeration and moisture retention properties of the substrates, evaluating their direct impact on soil microbiota, biodiversity and the final yield of the harvest.
