With the objective of strengthening the health of Venezuelan children, this Tuesday, November 18, 2025, 850,000 doses of the Sabin Inactive Poliomyelitis vaccine arrived at Maiquetia International Airport, as part of the National Immunization Program (PAI) promoted by the Bolivarian Government.

At the arrival of these drugs, according to a press release, the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, stressed that this is the third dose of vaccines received in the year, and that the 850,000 doses will be incorporated into the National Immunization Program to care for newborns in 2026.

“Today we joyfully celebrate the arrival of these vaccines, coinciding with the Day of the Virgin of La Chinita. This cooperation is the result of the joint work between the Ministry of Health and PAHO, under the guidance of President Nicolás Maduro, who has prioritized public health as the fundamental axis of his management,” he said.

Jiménez also reported that Venezuela has cooperation agreements on immunization with countries such as India, China, Iran, Russia, Cuba and, especially, with PAHO. In this regard, he called on mothers and representatives to go to health centers with a vaccination card to comply with the full schedule, stressing the importance of the polio vaccine in the protection of children.

He also announced that, thanks to the resources allocated by the National Executive, a total of 8 million doses of vaccines are expected to arrive, including those aimed at preventing diseases such as pneumococcus, rotavirus, Human Papillomavirus (HPV), measles, triple viral (SRP), against tuberculosis (BCG), among others.

For his part, Dr. Armando De Negri, representative of PAHO in Venezuela, emphasized that “PAHO is made up of the governments of the Americas and our duty is to support countries in the search for maximum happiness. We are pleased to accompany this process, which allows us to search globally for the best vaccines at the best price and to have them at the right time to protect the Venezuelan population.”
