More than 860 rescuers around the world have joined relief efforts after earthquakes in Venezuela

The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, reported this Friday that more than 860 rescuers from various countries are already in Venezuela, in addition to the work of supporting the contingency following the earthquakes that occurred last Wednesday, June 24.

“Right now, in the countryside, mainly in La Guaira, but also in Chacao and Caracas, in the municipality of Libertador, 272 people from Mexico, 328 rescuers from the United States of America, 115 rescuers from El Salvador (...) 90 people from Switzerland, 63 from Colombia, 40 from Spain, 53 from Ecuador, 34 from Chile, 11 from the Dominican Republic, 13 from Panama and also the United Nations special rescue team,” Rodríguez explained, providing an overview of the tragedy.

He pointed out that these are professionals specialized in rescuing people in natural disasters. “They are people specialized in overcoming all obstacles, debris, walls, walls, to achieve the life that must be saved,” he explained.

He indicated that, so far, there are 861 specialized rescuers in total, “and solidarity planes continue to arrive from all over the world (...) in addition to the thousands of the Bolivarian Government and the thousands of volunteers who have come to support.”
