The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reported that the National Prosecutor's Office 87 was appointed to investigate and punish for the serious environmental damage caused by the recently inaugurated padel courts in the capital city.
“Macaws and other wildlife have hit the windows of the facilities, causing the unfortunate death of several birds,” Saab said in a post on the social network Instagram.
The complaint was made by several environmental activists after the inauguration of new courts in the Los Samanes residential area in the southeast of the capital.
Glazed installations pose a double threat to flying species: on the one hand, surface transparency causes birds to attempt to fly through glass; and on the other, the reflection of the landscape, trees or clouds distorts the birds' path, which confuse it with an extension of habitat.
