The dredging work being carried out at the La Zorra pier, La Guaira state, continues to make steady progress, as part of the project aimed at recovering the operating conditions of this important port, contributing to strengthening navigation safety and better conditions for the development of fishing activity in the region.

The information was released on the website of the Ministry of People's Power for Transport (MPPT), in which it explains that the technical deployment involves the removal of approximately 150,000 cubic meters of sediment, making it possible to progressively restore the depth of the access channel and optimize the maneuverability of the vessels that use this infrastructure daily for their fishing tasks.

Currently, the specialized teams of the National Pipeline Institute (INCANAL) are maintaining dredging operations in accordance with established planning, progressively making progress in a work that represents an important boost for the local economy and the strengthening of the National Aquatic Sector.

For those who live in this port, the development of these works represents a response expected for years. “We are very grateful that this need is finally being addressed. Seeing how the work is progressing fills us with hope, because we know that we will have better conditions to work and we will be able to go fishing with greater peace of mind and security,” said Omar Correa, a fisherman from the area.

For his part, Roberto Navarro, also a fisherman from the La Zorra pier, stressed that the recovery of the depths will make it possible to revitalize fishing activity again.

“This means a lot to us. Our families depend on fishing and the better the conditions in the port, the greater opportunities we will have to work, increase production and strengthen the economy of our community,” he said.

The work is part of the actions promoted by the MPPT through the National Pipeline Institute, to strengthen the national aquatic infrastructure and contribute to the productive development of the country, following the guidelines of the President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, and the Minister of Popular Power for Transportation, Jacqueline Faria.
