A team of forest firefighters, park rangers, Civil Protection, Caracas Firefighters and volunteers are deployed in active combat against the vegetation fire that occurred in the La Mariposa Reservoir in Caracas.

The information was released by the Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Alfred Nazaret Ñáñez, in his account on the Telegram platform, in which he explained that the active focus is located on the Pine Plantation, within the Protected Zone of Tazón, in the Libertador municipality, where more than 80 troops are fighting the flames.

“Given the increase in temperatures over the past few days, lines of defense are being carried out to prevent the appearance of new sources,” Ñáñez said.

He also asserted that the staff of the General Directorate for Oversight and Control of Environmental Impacts of the Ministry of Ecosocialism (MINEC) are on site to carry out investigations into the causes of the event.

“Let's raise awareness: life comes first and prevention is everyone's task. If you see a column of smoke, don't hesitate, report immediately to 0800-AMBIENT. Taking care of our plant lungs is a shared responsibility,” the minister emphasized.
