The Ministry of Public Works (Mppop) is carrying out a large scale maintenance plan that is currently being implemented on the Guaire riverbed.

The main objective of this initiative, as reported by the newspaper Úlmas Noticias, is to ensure the protection of citizens and road infrastructure before the start of the rainy cycle in the national territory. Work is being carried out continuously to ensure the operation of the capital's drainage systems.

In this regard, specialized equipment and high-capacity machinery have been deployed in various critical sectors of the affluent.

Tasks include the clearing of riverbanks and the massive removal of solid waste that often obstructs the passage of water.

The operation also includes excavation, flattening and technical leveling processes to mobilize more than 45,000 cubic meters of sediment, material that will be transferred to final disposal centers to clear the course of the river.

The fundamental goal of these works is to expand the discharge capacity of the Guaire River and prevent possible overflows that could affect communities settled in adjacent areas.
