As part of the work aimed at boosting the country's economy, the strategic delivery of seeds to rice producers was carried out in the Paso del Libertador Commune, located in the community of Guafita, El Amparo parish of the municipality of Páez, Apure state, to address the first 700 hectares, which represents the initial phase of an ambitious plan that projects the entity as the country's new cereal epicenter.
In this regard, the Minister of Popular Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Julio León Heredia, stressed that the plan for agricultural expansion in the Llanera region does not stop.
“The goal of the Apure state is to cultivate 20,000 hectares of rice, taking advantage of the benefits of the entity's soil and the commitment of its workers,” he said.
He also pointed out that “the objective is to reach 100% of domestic rice production in record time to permanently replace imports and guarantee the Venezuelan dish with sovereign production.”
For his part, the governor of Apure, Wilmer Rodríguez emphasized that this delivery of supplies is the result of direct attention to organized Popular Power.
“We plan to integrate all levels of government with organized Popular Power and the private sector to increase this area to about five thousand hectares in this area and with a state projection of more than 20,000 hectares cultivable for rice, making Apure one of the states with the highest growth projection as a new producer of this cereal,” he emphasized.
With this start of planting, Apure strongly joins the national economic recovery strategy, demonstrating that the key to stability lies in the capacity to produce what the country consumes, in favor of strengthening the communal economy and comprehensive rural development.
