The emblematic room of the National Theater of Caracas will be the stage for the premiere of The Letters of José Gregorio, a moving stage proposal inspired by the country's spirituality.
The appointment is scheduled for June 28 at 03:00 p.m., giving the public the opportunity to delve into the thoughts, emotions and firm ideals of the remembered “Doctor of the Poor” through his own written texts and testimonies.
Based on a rigorous compilation and documentary review of the royal correspondence of José Gregorio Hernández, this montage is intended to reflect the closest and most everyday side of the Venezuelan blessed, who was raised to the altars in October 2025. Beyond his renowned scientific and social work, the work explores his family affections, his everyday experiences and that deep dedication to others that defined his career.
The performance will take place on the eve of the anniversary of his death (which occurred on June 29, 1919), transforming this staging into a cultural tribute of national importance. With a period setting that precisely recreates the Caracas of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a select group of local actors will relive the encounters and characters that marked the existence of this exemplary citizen.
The cultural venue is already fine-tuning its logistical preparations to receive parishioners, students and lovers of the performing arts in what promises to be a reunion with the country's historical memory. In this way, The Letters of José Gregorio are consolidated as an ideal invitation to exalt the values of fraternity, intellect and humanism that this illustrious Venezuelan sowed in the hearts of citizens.
