Nearly 300 wristbands in Trujillo make toys for children affected by earthquakes

Some 300 wristbands from the state of Trujillo have joined the Route of Hope, promoted by the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture, to make toys for boys and girls affected by earthquakes.

This was announced by the member of this group, Janet Briceño, who reaffirmed her deep solidarity with the families affected by the recent earthquakes.

“There are boys and girls in temporary camps who need company from the psychoemotional aspect, and what better companion than a toy made with our own hands that carries all the love; we are constantly engaged in all the elaboration in the municipalities,” said Briceño from the Josefa Sulbarán House of Knowledge in Valera.

He also explained that the toys will be “taken to the Art Network in Caracas for collection and distribution in the centers that are needed.”

For her part, Aura Rangel, also a member of the movement, emphasized that the main engine of this initiative is love and mutual help in the face of tragedy.

“Simple materials such as threads, scissors and scraps of cloth are used to make the pieces; we invite the entire Trujillo community to collaborate with recycled and well-used material to do all this work for reception spaces in Caracas and La Guaira,” he said.
