The Venezuelan boxer, Omailyn Alcalá, advanced to the semifinals of the World Boxing Championship to secure the bronze medal and keep alive the dream of being world champion, in the competition that takes place in the city of Liverpool, England.

In this competition, Alcalá beat Canadian Mary Al Ahmadieh with authority in her debut by unanimous decision (5-0). Two days later, he faced and defeated Yoldiz Kahraman from Turkey, and won the victory by a split decision (3-2), according to the Ministry of Sports press.
In the next fight, Alcalá will face India's representative, Jaismine, on Friday, September 12. The winner of this match will face the winner of the confrontation between Julia Szremeta from Poland and Valeria Arboleda from Colombia in the final.
