In the spaces of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies Rómulo Gallegos (CELARG), the Cuban philosopher Pablo Guadarrama González received the Liberator Prize for Critical Thinking in its thirteenth edition, accompanied by several intellectuals and national and international personalities.
The activity was accompanied by the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas; the president of CELARG, Pedro Calzadilla; the international coordinator of the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity (REDH), Miguel Ángel Pérez Pirela, and other authorities.
After receiving the award, Guadarrama thanked the Bolivarian Government, CELARG and REDH for keeping the Liberator Prize for Critical Thinking in force.
He also indicated that this award makes it possible to recognize the work of those who dedicate intellectual work to the noble task of critically reflecting from various disciplines and theoretical perspectives on the history and contemporary reality of multiple social processes that affect the dignity of peoples.
On the other hand, he specified that his book is the “result of four decades of work (...) this study on the trajectory of socialist and Marxist ideas, as well as the criticism that has been made of them, in the Latin American sphere”.
Special mentions were also given to six authors who participated in this edition of the Liberator Prize for Critical Thinking, which was created in 2005 by Commander Hugo Chávez and is considered to be the most important recognition given to counterhegemonic thinking in Spanish.
