This Sunday, August 31, the sectoral vice-president of Defense and Sovereignty, Vladimir Padrino López, reported that in Binational Zone No. 1 there will be 15,000 troops to protect our borders and in the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking.
In this regard, during the balance of operations of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) throughout the national territory, he indicated that these new troops will be added to the 10,380 that were deployed last weekend following the instructions of President Nicolás Maduro.
He reaffirmed that the objective of this deployment is to clear this area of illegal activities and “create conditions for the national development of the two countries (Venezuela and Colombia)”.
He also indicated that, thanks to the work of the FANB in the border area with Colombia, 21 camps and 36 logistical structures used for drug trafficking have been destroyed.
In turn, he specified that to date seven shipyards have been destroyed throughout the national territory; just as the number of drugs seized amounts to 55,818 kg of drugs.
“In other words, there has been a process of progressive drug seizure in the territory; the fight against drug trafficking is working,” he said, noting that coherent programs are needed to end this scourge and not with the deployment of destroyers in the Caribbean Sea.
In addition, he specified that, among the seizures made by the FANB, boats, engines, cartridges and 240,000 liters of fuel were also seized throughout the national territory.
He reaffirmed that Venezuela remains committed to continuing to make the necessary efforts to maintain the fight against drug trafficking and criminal gangs.
