Padrino López to Telesur: Continue to occupy the front line of the fight to defend the truth

The Minister of Defense, G/J Vladimir Padrino López, urged all the personnel working at Telesur to continue to remain on the front line in defense of the truth and responsible, timely and truthful information.

In a statement, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the creation of this multi-state television station, the senior military officer congratulated its work and highlighted the “temperance and intelligence” of its members.

As a counterhegemonic alternative to the Western discourse imposed by the great empires of global communication, the highest leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez, promoted the creation of TeleSUR in 2005. From then until now, this informative and cultural project, with a diverse and critical perspective, has allowed the entire world to see the reality of our continent, making this side of the hemisphere visible.

That is why today, when this communication window is undefeated and victorious in its 20 years of creation, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces recognizes and exalts its noble work, in promoting processes of union and fraternity between our peoples, always carrying out a message of social justice, self-determination, respect for human rights and the defense of peace. Convinced of such an unforgivable and transcendental task, we proudly congratulate their entire team (producers, cameramen, reporters, technicians, broadcasters, luminaries and administrative staff); and in a very special way, our director, the brilliant and combative journalist Patricia Villegas, who has carried out admirable behavior with temperance, intelligence and great ethical commitment to the truth.

Continue to make your critical verb, microphone and screen, the artillery of 21st century humanist thinking, occupying the front line of combat to fulfill the honorable mission of defending the truth and reporting in a responsible, timely and truthful manner.
